There are 210 steps to climb to reach the top, but you will be rewarded with breathtaking views! With its five mighty towers, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Laon rises majestically on the “crowned mountain” at the heart of this unique medieval town, one of the vastest protected areas in France. After dark, blue lights projected onto the facade bring out the structure’s warm shades, highlighting thousands of sculptural details. In recent years, the illuminated Cathedral towers, medieval doors, and southern rampart have been an invitation to contemplation. An emotionally charged moment of grace guided by mystery and subtlety. The nightly illuminations contribute to fresh appreciation for this exceptional heritage to visitors and inhabitants. In the same spirit, the city’s participation to the Monumental Tour, an event produced by DJ Mickael Canitrot which brings together electronic music, history, and architecture magically contributes to the animation of a former royal city that has remained dynamic and attractive throughout the centuries.
